BREB announces solar-powered charging stations for easy-bikes

More than 450,000 electricity-powered easy-bikes operate across the country, consuming more than 420MW of electricity per day. To ease the burden on the national electricity grid, The Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) are going to install solar-powered charging stations for easy-bikes and battery-operated rickshaws in four different locations. Within the next two months, four stations with 20-22 kilowatt capacity will be established in Mymensingh, Comilla, Gazipur and Narayanganj. Easy-bikes have a set of five batteries with a capacity of 60V, which consume 1kW of electricity daily and take 4-5 hours to be fully charged. More than 450,000 electricity-powered easy-bikes operate across the country, consuming more than 420MW of electricity per day. The charging stations are going to be placed through the Palli Bidyut Samities and is funded in part by the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA). Belagavi's e-rickshaw promises less pollution

The e-rickshaw is attracting passengers with its looks and smooth sound.Many are hiring the vehicle out of curiosity, just for a spin around the city. BELAGAVI: The first eco-friendly electric auto rickshaw (e-rickshaw) made its debut in Belagavi city at a time when friction between the public and traditional auto drivers is raging over mandatory implementation of auto meters and charging fares according to meter reading. The e-rickshaw is attracting passengers with its looks and smooth sound. Many are hiring the vehicle out of curiosity, just for a spin around the city. Four people can sit comfortably in the vehicle which has a spacious seat. Vijay Vastrad, owner of the e-rickshaw, said the vehicle runs at a speed of 30-40km per hour.
